SPIEZIA COMPANY POLICY

SPIEZIA ETHICS

We formulate and manufacture our Spiezia products at one of the first Organic Farms to be established in Cornwall - Gear Farm in the Lizard.

Our in-house team develop the range of skin, home and body care products using the nourishing properties of the purest organic natural ingredients.

We've sourced organic ingredients since our inception in the 1990’s. We were the original company in the UK to have Soil Association accreditation across 100% of our range and were strongly involved in the development of Soil Association certification for beauty products.

Our jars and bottles are made from recycled glass and we use aluminium lids and our corrugated covers to protect our products are sourced from Sustainable Forests. In line with our philosophy of ensuring we minimise our carbon footprint, our bottles and jars are sourced from within the UK. All our packaging is 100% recyclable in line with, and exceeding, the criteria established by the Soil Association.

Most of our products are sold in 50 ml or 100 ml jars and bottles to ensure that we are energy-efficient in our production process. The selection of our jars and bottles is due to the fact that our products, whilst not being the cheapest to purchase, last a long time and usually we find a 50 ml balm will last a customer 4 – 6 months.  This means there is no waste, we don’t need to use synthetic preservatives and our products remain fresh and effective right to the bottom of the jar.

INGREDIENTS

We believe Nature does it best.  Always have done. Always will. Nature provides us with so many amazing, therapeutic and nourishing ingredients, why add anything synthetic, or potentially harmful to you or the environment? That’s why Spiezia products are good enough to eat and we insist that our suppliers abide by an ethical policy.

The skin is the body's largest organ and absorbs much of what is placed on it and also interfaces with the environment. Research has shown that up to 60% of what you put on your skin is absorbed into the blood stream. We believe it's really important to be fully aware of what's in the products you use and that honesty and transparency is key.

In a lifetime we will come into contact with approximately 75,000 chemicals many of which have never been properly tested on humans, which have come into play in the last half century. We absorb a great number of these new synthetic chemicals from our food, our toiletries, and our own immediate environment. There has been a dramatic increase in cases of skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, various allergies and cancers which we believe are inextricably linked with our lifestyle.

By choosing to use natural, organic ingredients on the skin, we make a choice to minimise exposure to potentially harmful ingredients.

SPIEZIA PHILOSOPHY

Breathe out into the World that which you wish to breathe in.

Organic
We believe that what you put on your body is as important as what you put into your body.

Holistic
We believe beauty comes from within; natural remedies and total wellbeing are central to who we are.

Our aim is to give back as much as we take. That’s why we established the Made for Life Foundation supporting people diagnosed with Cancer, with Organic days filled with holistic treatments, organic makeovers, nutritional advice and just a load of love and hugs.

In addition we want to lead by example so we know the following:

  • Our lovely Products are really effective

Our formulations are created using the synergy of herbs and flowers and their aromatic scents and qualities to not just benefit the skin to but also to be uplifting and effective.  Our belief is that a beautiful skin is a healthy skin and this comes from within so our products must nourish both externally and internally.

  • We love Cornwall and the Environment

We have always been committed to a sustainable strategy. The only bi-products from our production processes are water and macerated herbs and flowers (which we have found the cows love!)  Our new packaging has resulted in a 12% reduction in waste and is made from recycled goods and is 100% recyclable too. Reduce, re-use and recycle is our mantra! We don’t use any harmful pollutants or toxic substances in any of our products, only natural and organic ingredients.

  • We love People

We actively listen to our small team, working closely together to be the best we can.  We also listen and talk to our large number of customers who give us feedback and also seek advice.  By sharing knowledge, we can help people understand how to live more healthily and enjoy greater wellbeing.

MADE FOR LIFE PHILOSOPHY ON SKIN

Everything we do at Spiezia centres around a philosophy that we call ‘Made for Life.’

‘Made for Life’ is about us, our health and the way live. It’s about making choices that not only contributes to our own well-being and makes us feel good about life, but that also contribute to the well-being of the world we live in.

At Spiezia we believe in keeping it natural. Beautiful skin is healthy skin; it’s as simple as that. The skin is the largest organ in your body and absorbs a vast amount of what you put on it which could impact on your health. With this in mind, no chemicals, parabens, additives or any other nasties are added to any of our entirely Organic and natural products. For us it’s all about whole Organic ingredients and years of wisdom, that combined, are known to produce results.

We also care about looking after the world we live in as much as we care about looking after the body you live in, so every choice we make has the environment in mind – from the labels on our recycled glass bottles and jars to the product miles on our ingredients, (every pot, jar and bottle of Spiezia Organic products is handmade in our workshop at Gear Farm, an Organic farm in St. Martin’s in Cornwall, by the way, so no worries there.)

We believe in pure, Organic, ethical skincare that makes you feel fantastic inside and out. That’s the ‘Made for Life’ philosophy.

We ensure that 100% of our products have Soil Association certification demonstrating our commitment to only ever using the highest quality certified Organic ingredients.
