We believe Nature does it best. Always have done, always will. Nature provides us with so many amazing, therapeutic and nourishing ingredients so why add anything synthetic or potentially harmful to you or the environment? That’s why Spiezia products are good enough to eat and we insist that our suppliers abide by an ethical policy.

We choose our ingredients for their specific properties which not only beautify the skin but also improve the health and wellbeing of our customers’ skin.
In recent years consumers have become much more aware about what is in their beauty products and there has been a lot of talk around Parabens and the potential links to cancer. At Spiezia we have excluded Parabens in all our products. Here’s a few more things that we don’t include in our products:

NO PARABENS – linked to oestrogen overproduction and breast cancer.
NO SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES – often associated with allergic reactions.
NO SYNTHETIC COLOURS – often associated with allergic reactions.
NO SILICONES – coat the skin, impeding its natural function.
NO MINERAL OILS – derived from petroleum, have a tendency to block the skin.
NO PHTHALATES – reported to have toxic impact on human and animal life.
NO EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid ) – doesn’t readily biodegrade.
NO PROPYLENE GLYCOL – derived from petroleum and used.
NO CARBOMER – derived from petroleum.
NO DEA (Diethanolamine) – associated with known carcinogens.
NO SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) – recognized as one of the most irritating cleaning ingredients in skin care products.
NO SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ethanol Sulphate) – a milder form of SLS but still irritating to the skin.

Our ‘Made For Life’ vision means that all of our products are created using processes that are considerate to the environment. This is also true of our extracts, essential oils and vegetable / seed oils, meaning no damaging chemical by-products, only natural Organic material that can be returned to the land.

Essential Oils and Steam Distillation

We have chosen a specialist supplier to provide us with the essential oils we use in the Spiezia products. The essential oils are very temperate sensitive and so it is vital to use a steam distillation process for extraction. The process involves taking the part of the plant from which you want to extract the essence (eg. Lavender flower, lemon peel, rosemary leaf). Introducing water or steam to the process lowers the boiling point of the oils that you require. The oil is the condensed or extracted from the remaining water, leaving you with the purest, highest quality essential oil and above all, the only by-product is water!
