Ethical Policy

We formulate and manufacture our Spiezia products at one of the first Organic Farms to be established in Cornwall – Gear Farm in the Lizard. We’ve sourced organic ingredients since our inception in the 1990’s. We were the original company in the UK to have Soil Association accreditation across 100% of our skin care range and were strongly involved in the development of Soil Association certification for beauty products. In addition to our commitment to ‘Organic’, we also operate on a strict ethical policy when it comes to purchasing, whether it be our ingredients, packaging, stationary and cleaning products.

1) No supplier must have been involved in animal testing of any sort with any ingredients. We believe that animal testing is unnecessary and cruel.

2) Ingredients supplied to us must increase the long term soil fertility and sustainable management of resources. Ingredients must maintain genetic diversity including the protection of plants and wildlife habitats.

3) Suppliers must use, as far as possible, renewable resources to minimise all forms of pollution.

4) Suppliers must help all those involved in organic production to have a life that meets their basic needs in a safe working environment, providing an adequate return and satisfaction from their work.

5) Suppliers must progress towards an entire production, processing and distribution system that is both socially and ecologically responsible.

6) We will not accept any GMO ingredients – not enough is known about the long-term implications and they are not accepted by the Soil Association.

7) Suppliers must provide us with the freshest ingredients possible and, ideally, locally sourced.

8) All ingredients must meet the Soil Association standards in terms of stringent certification criteria so that we have complete traceability for every product.

9) All packaging/cartons that goods are supplied in must be recyclable.

10) Distribution methods must minimise impact on the environment and ideally be carbon neutral.
